I have tried this a few times, but not on a regular basis. I agree with the other reviews, in that you can definitely notice it, and that in higher doses it has an anti anxiety affect.
In the past week I have been taking 5-htp ( a seratonin precurser) which had left a decent amount in my system, and then twice I took 100mg of 5-htp with Bacopa ( about 2/3 uncompressed in a 00 capsule ). That combo put me in kind of a fuzzy but enjoyable state. 3-4 hours later it wore off and I felt my seratonin level drop off more abruptly than if I had not taken the bacopa.
Clearly Bacopa has some effect on seratonin. I would take extreme caution mixing it with an MAOI (Kava included), and higher doses of 5-htp. Making a mistake could cause seratonin syndrome, and that is neither fun nor safe.
Besides all that new info, I would say bacopa is definitely something worth trying for anyone interested in nootropics, and relief from stress. |
