Starchy carbohydrates are found predominantly in foods such as potatoes, pastas and breads (the foods we love to eat.) Starchy carbohydrates are too large to be absorbed through the small intestine. They must be broken down into smaller molecules and to do this you need the enzyme alpha amylase. As Carb Suppress inhibits the action of alpha amylase, the starchy carbohydrates are not able to be absorbed and will simply be passed through.
