The Essential Supplements - Part Four
For the next couple of newsletters, I'll
be discussing what I consider to be
the essential supplements. Supplements
that anyone from a weekend warrior to
a serious lifter should consider using
to make the most of their efforts.
Here's Part Four of the Five Part Series....
Last issue, I added essential fatty
acids to the #3 position - coming in
behind #1 protein and #2 glutamine.
In the next issue, I'll go over a few
supplements that while not entirely
essential to everyone - came very close
to making the list. However, right now
it is time to finish off the Big 4
Essentials with the addition of Fiber!
Even though it is a simple supplement,
fiber is essential - especially on a
high protein diet. If you've ever tried
to live on MRP's
and protein, let's face
it: you've unloaded a brick or two.
While somebody may have said, "You sure
took a healthy one!" - it really wasn't
that healthy.
Dr. Chris Lydon of M.D. Labs actually
listed Metamucil as the 3rd most
essential supplement when she compiled
a list.
(To view her list of top
supplements, go here:

As she suggests, not many of us actually
eat five servings of fresh fruits and
vegetables every day. Without enough
dietary fiber, you could be headed
toward a lot of problems - and the
worst of which is a huge increase in
the risk of developing colon cancer.
Solution!
We do offer fiber in both powder
and capsule forms. 1 to 3 servings a day
should help to keep the doctor away...or
should I say the snap of the rubber glove?
Fiber has very few calories per serving, too.
Also, the stuff is dirt cheap. Fiber isn't an expensive
supplement - just a good one.
Conclusion:
This actually ends my Big 4 Essential
Supplements list! As you may have found,
the list only included the basics -
the stuff you shouldn't even try to
get by without. Male or female -
makes no difference. This short list
applies to everyone. Sure, the choices
weren't exciting hyped supplements
like Big Bull Gonadotropin XL 5000 or
Ultra Mega Huge Ripped Creatine Stack
...er, uh, well...you get the picture.
Remember, the next article will feature some
supplements that almost made the Big 4!
